Today in third grade we used a new free augmented reality app from NASA called Spacecraft 3-D. The app allows students to point the iPad camera at a marker that I printed before the lesson and they will see a three dimensional image of a spacecraft like the Mars Curiosity Rover. All the spacecraft have research information and some spacecraft even have moveable pieces for students to manipulate. This was a great app to put in the kids hands and just let them explore without much frontloading of instructions and information.
